This year's Social Hour is being planned to take advantage of the excellent restaurants located near the Washington Convention Center where the APHA Annual Meeting will be held. Current plans are for a cocktail hour reception with plentiful hors d'oeuvres and small plates at the Lei Garden, 631 H Street, NW, on Monday, Nov. 8th. The reception will include presentation of awards and recognition of the many contributors to our activities. APHA will not permit receptions and social hours held outside of the Convention Center to be listed in the Annual Meeting Program (claiming that it would affect their insurance liability!!!), so plan on stopping by the Section Exhibit on Sunday or Monday to get final details on the Social Hour.

Deferring to the preferences of many members, we will not seek financial support for this event from pharmaceutical suppliers. The Florida Mental Health Institute and the Academy of Organizational and Occupational Psychiatry have expressed interest in providing sponsorship for the Social Hour.
