• The final meeting program is included in this newsletter. In addition to the oral and poster presentations, the times and locations of additional VERY important activities (the award lectures, the Section business meeting, reception and a special informal session with NIMH staff) are listed at the beginning of the attached program. The date and time of the oral and poster presentations are listed in the attached information; the locations of oral and poster presentations are not listed. If you have registered for the meeting, you can access the locations of each session by accessing the Personal Scheduler on the APHA meeting website.

• Highlights of the Mental Health Section Program:
Carl Taube Award will be presented to Marvin Swartz, MD, and Jeffery W. Swanson, PhD, on Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., session #4132.0, for their extensive work examining service effectiveness for persons with serious mental illness. No other scientific session sponsored by the mental health section is scheduled at this time so that we can all attend this lecture and celebrate the work of these colleagues. Joe Morrissey, PhD, will moderate the session.
Rema Lapouse Award will be presented to Ezra Susser, MD, DrPH, on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m., session #4398.0. His lecture will be "Historical Change and Neurodevelopmental Disorders".  Hendricks Brown, PhD, will moderate.
There will be one Mental Health Section business meeting on WEDNESDAY morning, 7-8 a.m.  Session # 354.0.  Officially the new section leadership will begin their terms at this meeting, and it will be an opportunity to meet the new leadership and contribute to planning the Section work of 2012.  It is early, but it is a time that does not conflict with other activities – so PLEASE “rise and shine!”  (And, for sure -- coffee and tea will be provided.)
Early Monday morning, Peter Muehrer, PhD, will hold an informal meeting with members who have interest to seek NIMH funding. This meeting will be held at 7 a.m. in the Mix and Mingle Lounge of the Convention Center
The Mental Health Section Social, session # 348.0, will be held on Tuesday evening 7-9 p.m. The convenient location should encourage all mental health members attending the meeting to come network with colleagues and friends. Spouses, partners, friends and other colleagues are VERY welcome!  Appetizers will be provided at no cost; a cash bar will be available for soft drinks, beer and wine.
Mental Health Section Booth: Anita Saranga Coen has sent out one notice about coverage and collecting materials for this year’s Section booth in the APHA Exhibit Hall. Another notice will be coming out shortly and will include a calendar so you can sign up for coverage. Contact Anita at
focuseval@comcast.net if you have any comments or questions in the meantime.

For exact locations of any event listed above, please visit the Mental Health Section booth located in the Section Pavilion of the exhibit hall.
