Title: Third APHA Workshop on Creating Evidence-based Practices Offered Nov. 6
Author:
Section/SPIG: Mental Health
Issue Date:
Once again our Mental Health Section is sponsoring a workshop at the Annual Meeting through the APHA Continuing Education office on understanding how to create and improve high quality public health services. Consistent with the overall theme of the APHA meeting, this workshop covers an innovative approach to evaluating services as they are being delivered. The key elements of this approach are the assessment of client changes relating only to service activities, and the application of simple continuous quality improvement methods that turn the information around quickly to produce improvements in service delivery. Performing services research in conjunction with service agencies applying this innovative approach may yield larger program effects.
Mastering this approach will empower local service staff to turn new practices and best practices into evidence-based practices.
The workshop will be presented on Sunday, Dec. 11, in two sessions, one before the APHA Opening Session, and the second following the Opening Session. To register for the workshop, just add this item on your standard APHA registration form, or sign up Sunday morning. Here are the specifics:
