Mental Health Section Award Rick Beinecke, PhD
This year’s Mental Health Section Award goes to our colleague Dr. Richard Beinecke. Rick is a professor at Suffolk University in Boston, where he teaches courses on disability policy. Rick has served as our section’s program chair, chair, and probably as other things that escape me at the moment. He also has been a true “go to guy” for whatever the section needs. In presenting him with the Section Award, which is given for “Excellence in Mental Health,” we recognize both his tireless efforts on behalf of the section and his research in the effects of managed mental health care in Massachusetts. Rick’s ongoing efforts to track the effects of this first-in-nation Medicaid initiative for more than a decade have provided mental health services and policy researchers with a wonderful source of information about this critically important area. Recently he went to England to begin research on comparative policy and service delivery issues, and will be describing his impressions in this and future conferences.
