ASPH, with support from the March of Dimes, has designed a free, Web-based educational module, Advocating For Folic Acid: A Guide For Health Professionals, to educate current and future health professionals about the importance of folic acid and ways to counsel patients. The module provides information such as the benefits of folic acid and strategies for counseling individuals regarding folic acid intake. Special features are available for educators to view student performance. This module also contains interactive components for students to learn about folic acid. Specific sections focus on the following health professions: Allied Health, Dentistry, Dietitian, Nursing, Optometry, Medicine, Pharmacy, and Public Health. A number of health professional schools are currently using this education tool.
