Note from the Chair
I hope that you are all enjoying spring. It has been a busy year for the HIV/AIDS
Section this year. Thanks to those of
you who completed the membership survey that we distributed this past
winter. We have compiled the results and
are working to implement changes to reflect the needs of all of you. It was quite evident from the responses that
you would like more communication from your Section leaders. As a result, we have decided to implement a
monthly e-mail with information of interest to our members, but also to create a
listserv so that we can share information quickly and easily. See below for how to become a part of the
listserv. It is hard to believe that the Annual Meeting is only five months away. I look forward to seeing all of you in D.C.
Take care,
Tania
APHA Annual Meeting
The 139th Annual Meeting and Exposition will take place in
Washington, D.C., from Oct. 29 – Nov. 2. Registration and Housing are now open. Early bird fees will be available
until August 19.
HIV/AIDS Section Social at Annual Meeting
Since this Annual Meeting marks our 10 year Section Anniversary, we are
having our social at La Tasca on Tuesday, Nov. 1, from
7-10. We will have plenty of food and
drinks for everyone. La Tasca is located
two blocks from the convention center so it is close to all the convention
hotels. Please attend this special event
as we will be honoring past chairs, leaders, and members.
HIV/AIDS Listserv Directions
To become a member of the listerv (yahoo group), send an e-mail to aphahiv@yahoo.com
This group is by invitation only, so once you send an e-mail to the
above address, please put “Add me to the List” in the subject line as well as
provide your e-mail address and name.
Once you have done this, you will receive an e-mail from hiv_aids_section@yahoo.com
instructing you on how to get signed up.
I encourage folks to take part in listserv activities by passing along
information related to funding opportunities, research briefs, policy briefs,
job announcements, etc. This is only open
to HIV/AIDS Section members, so please make sure that information is of
interest to members with an interest in HIV/AIDS.
