You are likely well-known in your field and on the Web. Want to find out how well-know you actually are? Open Google.com and type in your name in quotes. Then see how many mentions of you are listed. Well, how many are there and what do they say about you? Do NOT use your Social Security Number or any credit card number to search. The Web is very insecure. Just inputting your card numbers or SSN can get you into trouble.
A Croatian colleague was able to track me down using Google. She input my name and hunted for my phone number. Imagine my surprise when I got a phone call early one morning this week from her. When I asked how she found me, she answered, "Google."
