Reducing Racial & Ethnic Health Disparities


The National Business Group on Health, formerly the Washington Business Group on Health, has "developed an employer toolkit to provide companies with culturally competent resources, best management practices and assessment tools to reduce and eliminate health disparities."

The kit is divided into four sections full of information, pertinent findings and strategies that the Business Group will update and expand upon on an ongoing basis. The sections include the following: Overview; Key Facts and Information; Important Findings; and, Strategies and Solutions. The Overview section contains general information about the National Business Group on Health and the Business Group's Health Disparities Initiative, and the Initiative's Employer Council and Technical Advisory Board members. Two Issue Briefs and an analysis paper form the Key Facts section. The Findings and Strategies and Solutions section contain a variety of documents and surveys (and their results). National Network of Public Health Institutes


Public Health Institutes are "nonprofit, multi-sector entities that rely upon partnerships and collaborations between federal, state, and local public health agencies, universities, foundations, and other health-related organizations to foster innovations that improve health." State Fact Sheets (ERS)


The ERS State Fact Sheets contain frequently requested data for each state and for the total United States. These include current data on population, per-capita income, earnings per job, poverty rates, employment, unemployment, farm and farm-related jobs, farm characteristics, farm financial characteristics, top agricultural commodities, top export commodities, and the top counties in agricultural sales.

The ERS State Fact Sheets have been updated with more recent data on Farm and Farm Related Employment. In addition, the Population, Income, and Employment data now reflect the June 2003 metro and nonmetro definitions.
