Teresa M. Anchondo, MPHTeresa M. Anchondo, MPH, currently a student at University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), is the 2009-2010 recipient of the Student Abstract Award. This award recognizes the student whose submitted abstract received the highest overall score by reviewers. Her winning abstract is entitled, “Neighborhood deprivation, neighborhood acculturation, and the retail food environment in a U.S.-Mexico border urban area.” In addition to the award, Ms. Anchondo received a one-year paid APHA membership. She is currently pursuing a PhD in the Interdisciplinary Health Sciences program at UTEP.
