The Environment Section’s Climate Change and Health Topic Committee is working on several ideas to further disseminate information on climate change and health, as well as looking forward to our full session on Indicators of Climate Vulnerability and Community Resilience (Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 10:30 a.m.) at the APHA Annual Meeting.  On the news front, an informal committee subgroup has formed to discuss ways that public health professionals and meteorologists might partner to get teams into K-12 schools to educate students on the linkages between health and climate change.  There is also a subgroup to survey resources on climate change adaptation.  Committee comments on the proposed structure and process of U.S. Global Change Research Program’s “U.S. National Climate Assessment Objectives, Proposed Topics, and Next Steps,” were compiled via the APHA staff and sent in to USGCRP. Our Committee is hoping to locate a venue related to climate change in Denver, where we can plan an evening gathering and some quiet conversation after the excitement of the meeting, so stay tuned for location postings.
