The Chiropractic Health Care Section was recognized at APHA’s Public Health Awards Reception on Sunday, Dec. 11 in Philadelphia. APHA’s Executive Director, Georges Benjamin, MD, presented a commemorative plaque to CHC Section Chair John Hyland, DC, MPH. During his acceptance speech, Dr. Hyland acknowledged the important contributions of two long-time members, and called them up onto the stage to participate in the section’s recognition.

Dr. Hyland credited Rand Baird, DC, MPH, who “was the first to recognize that chiropractors deserved a place in public health, and then worked tirelessly to obtain APHA section status.” He then recognized Mitchell Haas, MA, DC, who “organized and wrote our application for section status, and then shepherded it through the challenging process.” Both of these members continue to participate in APHA, and they contribute tremendously to the CHC Section’s visability and viability.
