At this time of the year, your APHA membership should be up for renewal. Please note that your APHA membership comes with an automatic membership at the Student Assembly, and you can also choose Gerontological Health Section for your section affiliation. As a member of the Gerontological Health Section, you will get the monthly newsletter and different opportunity announcements at the gerontological health field. You will get to be a part of the Student Assembly, which is the nation's largest student-led organization dedicated to furthering the development of students by enhancing students' professional development by providing resources, fostering diversity and promoting opportunities.
Our goal at the APHA-SA this year is to strengthen our programs to promote the professional development of student members. New initiatives include: the National Mentoring Program that is a fully-automated online mentor/mentee matching system for all APHA members, Programming and Student Meeting Committees organize the APHA-SA and student presence at the Annual Meeting.
Benefits to membership in APHA-SA include participation in programs, initiatives and advocacy such as: become a Campus Liaison for your school or a Section Liaison for your APHA Sectio;, register as a mentor or mentee in the National Mentoring Program ;support public health initiatives through action and advocacy; find out about Public Health Opportunities through PHSO; Raise funds for APHA-SA and other public health initiatives; receive subscriptions to The Nation's Health and American Journal of Public Health and meeting discounts.
