This year the Section elected two new section councilors for three year terms, and one governing councilor for a two-year term.

Section Council is officially responsible for the key governance decisions of the section, and councilors also are involved in a number of other section activities. Steven Albert (Columbia University) and Karen Peters (University of Illinois-Chicago) were elected to serve on Section Council.

The Governing Council is an APHA-wide body with representatives from all sections and state affiliates and is responsible for all Association policy making. The Governing Council is the body that also chooses the Association's president and other leaders. The GHS greatly appreciates the willingness of many of our members in running for these positions. Robert Newcomer (University of California-San Francisco)was elected to serve on the Governing Council.

The new elected GHS officers will assume their positions after the November Annual Meeting.

Committee Leadership

The Section has a number of appointed committees. Turner Goins has agreed to chair the Membership Committee, working with the past chair of the committee (Jim Swan), past section chair (Connie Evashwick), and others to help build section membership.
