As you may know, planning is under way for the 2005 White House Conference on Aging (WHCOA). Also as you may know, APHA is a member of the Leadership Council on Aging Organizations (LCAO), a federation of organizations that principally lobbies Congress on aging-related public policy issues.

APHA's Associate Executive Director for Public Affairs Kelly O'Brien represents APHA on the LCAO. All LCAO members have been asked by WHCOA planners to submit recommendations about issues that should be discussed during the 2005 WHCOA.

The APHA Task Force on Aging is working with Kelly to construct a response from APHA. GHS members on the Task Force on Aging, as well as all other Task Force members, have been asked to submit recommendations by the end of August, particularly in the areas of housing, transportation, health and long-term care, and social engagement.
