The Philip J. Weiler Award For Leadership In Aging And Public Health recognizes the best of past and present leadership concerned with ensuring the highest quality of life for our older population. This year's recipient is the Archstone Foundation.

The Archstone Foundation is a private grantmaking organization whose mission is to contribute towards the preparation of society in meeting the needs of an aging population. Their strategic areas include elder abuse prevention, falls prevention, and end-of-life issues. They have been a leader in California in bringing together researchers, providers, policy makers, and others to address these issues. In addition, they have helped highlight innovative programs in public health and aging nationally through funding and by providing other support to the Archstone Award for Excellence in Program Innovation that the Gerontological Health Section awards annually.
