CMS has put a call out for papers for an upcoming issue of the Health Care Financing Review. The issue will have a prevention theme, "Medicare and Prevention." The issue will come out in the summer of 2005.

This issue will focus on the impact of prevention on the health of Medicare beneficiaries and health care expenditures now and into the future. Articles are being sought that describe interventions to reduce risk factors, such as physical inactivity, obesity, and tobacco use, and studies to promote cancer screening. Articles describing interventions to increase the use of Medicare preventive benefits in underserved populations are also of interest. Additionally, articles describing the impact of prevention on Medicare costs and utilization and discussing innovative financing or delivery models may also be considered.
