Getting Around the Annual Meeting

Annual Meeting Registrants are going to find that Washington provides a great package of meeting space, exhibit space and hotels.  There are many options for getting around the city and between our hotel properties.

Washington, DC- A Walking City
The Washington Convention Center (WCC) and the meeting hotels are conveniently located within close proximity to one another and are within walking distance of the Convention Center. While APHA provides shuttle service, registrants are encouraged to walk whenever possible. Enjoy some fresh air and get an up close view of the city. Walking directions from all APHA Hotels to the Washington Convention Center are available.

APHA Complimentary Shuttle Service
Complimentary shuttle service will be provided between official APHA Hotels and the Washington Convention Center (WCC). There are several hotels that will NOT be served by the regular shuttle buses because they are within easy walking distance to the WCC.

On Call Wheelchair Accessible Van Service
In addition to accessible shuttle bus service, wheelchair accessible van service can also be scheduled upon request between official APHA hotels and the Washington Convention Center for attendees with disabilities. Visit or call the Shuttle Bus Service Desk or the APHA Access Booth located in the registration area of the Washington Convention Center to make arrangements in advance.

Taxi Service
Registrants with mobility issues who are unable to utilize APHA shuttle buses or the on-call accessible transportation option, may utilize cab service to and from official APHA hotels and the Washington Convention Center. APHA will reimburse for taxi fares between official APHA Annual Meeting properties. Submit all receipts to APHA (c/o Conventions Dept., 800 I St., NW, Washington, DC 20001) no later than November 28, 2011.

Capital Bikeshare
Capital Bikeshare puts 1,100 bicycles at your fingertips. You can choose from over 110 stations across Washington, D.C. and Arlington, VA and return it to any station near your destination.
