Getting Around the Annual Meeting

Annual Meeting Registrants are going to find that San Diego provides a great package of meeting space, exhibit space and hotels.  There are many options for getting around the city and between our hotel properties.

San Diego - A Walking City

WalkingThe San Diego Convention Center, the San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina and the Manchester Grand Hyatt are conveniently located within close proximity to one another and are within walking distance of the Convention Center. Shuttle service will not be required to these meeting hotels. In addition, there are two Trolley stops at the Convention Center. While APHA provides shuttle service, registrants are encouraged to walk whenever possible. Enjoy some fresh air and get an up close view of the city. APHA Shuttle Bus Service

Complimentary shuttle service  will be provided from APHA Hotels to the San Diego Convention Center (SDCC). Some of the hotels are within walking distance of the SDCC and will not require shuttle bus service. Wheelchair accessible buses will be available on all shuttle routes and on-call accessible transportation is also available.

San Diego Trolley 

Serving the entire San Diego County region, theTrolley has route maps posted at ticket machines at each station. The trolley provides convenient service from Mission Valley hotels to the Convention Center. Two stations are across the street from the Convention Center. Fares are based on trip distance; round-trip fares range from $2.50 to $6. The Trolley does not stop at the San Diego International Airport. More information can be found at www.sdcommute.com.

Coronado Ferry
A passenger ferry runs regularly across San Diego Bay between Broadway Pier in downtown San Diego and the Coronado Ferry Landing in Coronado. A one-way trip takes about 10 minutes. The ferry departs from Broadway Pier every hour on the half hour from 9:30am to 9:30pm on Friday and Saturday only, from Coronado Ferry Landing every hour on the half hour 9:30am to 9:30pm, and also at 10:30pm on Friday and Saturday only. The one-way fare is $2.75 per person. You may also take a bicycle aboard the ferry for an additional 50 cents each way. On Call Wheelchair Accessible Van Service

Wheelchair SymbolWheelchair Accessible Van Service can also be scheduled upon request between official APHA hotels and the San Diego Convention Center (SDCC) for attendees with disabilities. Visit or call the Shuttle Bus Service Desk or the APHA Access booth in the registration area to make arrangements in advance. Phone numbers will be published on all shuttle signage, in the final program and in the badge-mailing packet.

Taxi Service

TaxiRegistrants with disabilities who are unable to utilize APHA shuttle buses or the on-call accessible transportation option, may utilize cab service to and from official APHA hotels and the SDCC. APHA will reimburse for taxi fares between official APHA Annual Meeting properties. Submit all receipts to APHA (c/o Conventions Dept., 800 I St., NW, Washington, DC 20001) no later than November 25, 2008.
