HOUSING SCAM
It has been brought to our attention that unknown housing and travel companies have been contacting APHA exhibitors and attendees falsely claiming to represent APHA as the official hotel/housing company for the APHA 138th Annual Meeting & Expo in Denver.
DO NOT make any reservations through Convention Expo Travel(CET), Global Housing or any unknown housing or travel company. Most importantly do not provide them your personal information, especially your credit card number. These rogue companies (commonly referred to as "pirates" or "housing bandits")will charge your credit card for the full stay and hotel rooms will not be available when you arrive in Denver.
The official hotel reservation/housing services company for the American Public Health Association is J Spargo & Associates. APHA Annual Meeting hotel reservations can only be made online at www.apha.org/meetings/housing or by telephone at 866-871-5085 (toll-free) or 703-449-6418 (international). All reservations must go through J Spargo & Associates, 11208 Waples Mill Rd., Suite 112, Fairfax, VA 22030.
If you are contacted by anyone asking if you need a room at the upcoming Annual Meeting or representing themselves as the "APHA Housing Bureau," please get as much information as you can, such as name of the company, the person calling, and their telephone number.
