Washington, D.C., June 3, 2014 – Registration for the American Public Health Association’s 142nd Annual Meeting and Exposition opens today, June 3. The meeting, to take place this year in New Orleans, Nov. 15-19, gathers nearly 13,000 public health experts, leaders, professionals and advocates.

The 2014 meeting themed “Healthography: How Where You Live Affects Your Health and Well-Being” will feature timely sessions, the latest public health research, events and the annual Public Health Expo to be held at New Orleans’ Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. Addressing location and its impact on health, the meeting will open with Pulitzer Prize-winning author Isabel Wilkerson, whose best-selling book, “The Warmth of Other Suns,” discusses the Great Migration.

“APHA’s Annual Meeting is a home and meeting of the minds for the public health community. It’s the ideal place to convene with peers in the field, access continuing education and engage in new findings and public health research,” says Georges Benjamin, executive director of APHA. “If there’s one public health meeting to attend, this is it.”
