Nation’s Top Health Officials to Explore Implications of Health Reform Law, other Major Health Issues at APHA’s 138th Annual Meeting in Denver, Nov. 6-10

Join thousands of health officials from across the country at the American Public Health Association’s 138th Annual Meeting and Exposition in Denver, Colo., from Nov. 6-10, as they come together to discuss some of today’s most pressing health issues facing the nation. The 2010 Annual Meeting is themed “Social Justice: A Public Health Imperative” and will explore a wide array of public health topics from health reform implementation to infectious disease.

As the nation continues to move through the implementation process of the historic health reform law, it is critical that public health officials and agencies be equipped with the tools they need to ensure that the law has maximum impact. Hear from the nation’s leading health officials on the implications of the law and opportunities and challenges that lay ahead for state, local and federal health professionals at the Summit on Health Reform.

The Summit will feature Howard Koh, MD, MPH, assistant secretary for health, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; Regina Benjamin, MD, MBA (invited), U.S. surgeon general; and Tom Frieden, MD, MPH, director, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Press facilities will be located in the Colorado Convention Center, Room 202/204 and include a press office and work room. Phones, PCs, a printer and Internet connections will be available to registered media.
