Press Registration for 2010 APHA Annual Meeting and Exposition in Denver Now Open

World’s Largest, Most Prestigious Public Health Gathering to Feature More Than 1,000 Scientific Sessions

Washington, D.C., June 7, 2010 –Press registration is now open for the American Public Health Association’s 138th Annual Meeting and Exposition in Denver, Colo., Nov. 6-10. Credentialed reporters can go here to register online.

The 2010 APHA Annual Meeting and Exposition is themed “Social Justice: A Public Health Imperative” and will feature the industry’s foremost experts who will share their work on a wide array of public health issues. Several major topics of focus will include health reform, health justice in a globalized economy, overcoming food system disparities, among others. The event will also feature keynote speakers Cornel West, PhD, professor at Princeton University, and Bill Jenkins, PhD, MPH, with the University of North Carolina Institute of African American Research and formerly with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, where he helped end the infamous Tuskegee Study.

APHA is also pleased to announce that it will hold its first-ever Summit on Health Reform preceding the meeting. This groundbreaking daylong summit is designed to prepare federal, state and local public health officials and agencies on the provisions of the new health law and address key strategies around implementation.

The APHA Annual Meeting and Exposition is the oldest and largest gathering of public health professionals in the world. A program schedule for each scientific session, searchable previews for sessions and the presentation abstracts are available online at www.apha.org/meetings/sessions.
