Statement from Georges C. Benjamin, MD, FACP, FACEP (E)
Executive Director
American Public Health Association
Washington, D.C., Dec. 12, 2007 – “APHA is incredibly dismayed and disappointed that the president has once again ignored the health of millions of children in need by vetoing the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) for the second time.
“The bipartisan CHIP legislation that was on the president’s desk continues to be our best opportunity for protecting the health of the millions of our nation’s children who lack access to health care. We call on our leaders to continue in their efforts to pass strong CHIP legislation.”
