Midyear Meeting Press Information

The American Public Health Association invites you to attend and cover the upcoming Midyear Meeting, themed "The New Public Health: Rewiring for the Future." The meeting will take place June 26-28 in Charlotte, N.C. Public health experts and practitioners will discuss next steps and share innovative best practices in improving our nation's health system, particularly with the challenges of a shrinking public health workforce and looming budget cuts.

The 2012 Midyear Meeting offers an opportunity to gather the latest on-the-ground intelligence from community and state officials across the country, and learn what’s coming around the corner from national leaders.

Keynote speaker announced - Former Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Donald Berwick will help kick off the meeting and speak about how public health and health care both need to change to create a more integrated system and ultimately a healthier nation.

This Midyear Meeting will equip attendees from federal, state, local and tribal agencies and organizations with the educational, policy and advocacy tools needed for keeping up with and anticipating the changes that will be necessary to “rewire” and energize the public health infrastructure.
