In 2011 Ms. Nydegger received her Master’s in Public Health from Claremont Graduate University and in 2012 became a Certified Health Education Specialist. Her Bachelor’s degree is in psychology from Siena College. She is spending the 2012-2013 school year with the Centre for the AIDS Programme of Research in South Africa in Durban from receiving a Fulbright-Fogarty Fellowship. Ms. Nydegger serves as Chair for the American Public Health Association Student Assembly after serving as Membership Co-Chair for two years and Chair-Elect for one year. Her main research area of interest involves HIV/AIDS prevention and awareness, specifically among intimate partner violence and childhood sexual abuse survivors. While at the School of Community and Global Health, she has served as the primary HIV health educator for substance abusers, coordinated numerous events focusing on HIV and violence, and spoke at several events regarding HIV and intimate partner violence. Once Ms. Nydegger has earned her Ph.D. she plans to apply for a post-doc specific to HIV-related issues on an international level. Her hope is to eventually become an interventionist, developing HIV prevention interventions for various populations around the world.
