2013 Distinguished Public Health Legislator of the Year Award
Nominations are now being accepted for the
Distinguished Public Health Legislator of the Year Award. This award recognizes local, state and federal lawmakers who are public health champions. The deadline for nominations is 5:00pm June 1, 2013. Nominations may only be submitted by APHA members.
When considering federal legislators for nomination, we recommend that you review APHA’s annual congressional vote record. It is also suggested that you review any legislation legislators have sponsored or cosponsored during this and previous Congresses (http://thomas.loc.gov/), any leadership they have provided in protecting public health programs and funding during the budget process, and any other examples of leadership that cannot necessarily be captured in a legislator’s voting record.
