Personal Statement about APHA-SA: After hearing from other students about the APHA Annual Meeting as a first year MPH student, I was eager to attend. I quickly registered for the meeting and, simultaneously, became a member of APHA-SA. I didn't realize what this meant until I received an email about getting more involved. The opportunity to become a Membership Ambassador sparked my interest, so I applied and was accepted into that role. During the APHA Annual Meeting, I attended student meetings and introduced myself to board members. I had no idea when I first registered for the Annual Meeting that there was this great student organization inside APHA. After the meeting, when a call went out for committee (co-)chairs, I thought, "Well, I'm already doing this much. I can do more!" So, I applied… again. My involvement has, since then, grown and allowed me to engage with the organization and make lasting relationships with other students and professionals. From personal development to networking, APHA-SA has so much to offer all of its members. I love the challenges from being a leader in such a large organization. I am excited and enthusiastic for the upcoming year!
