Plans after school: Once receiving my doctorate, I will pursue an academic career that will integrate both my solid methodological background with my passion for CBPR. I aspire to become an academic professor, mentoring other minorities and disseminating the importance of higher education and health research, just as my mentors advised and guided my current journey. To serve as a bridge into academia, I look forward to pursuing post-doctoral training and/or fellowships that will help develop this career at an institution committed to transdiscipinary efforts and health disparities.
Personal Statement about APHA-SA: Because I desire in becoming a unique and valuable researcher, networking and connecting with innovative and passionate individuals is vital in developing my career; therefore, where else to do this but through APHA - the largest Public Health platform. Having received my MPH, I want to help other students discover their individual paths in public health. I believe in true synergies between individuals in both, academia and community, and I dedicate myself in cultivating culturally tailored health projects and interventions. With this knowledge, I hope to share and collaborate with others through APHA-SA. My long-term goal is devoted to research that empowers minorities towards better health outcomes, pipelining young people towards higher education in public health, and supporting incoming knowledge about culture and diversity in academia.
