Plans after school: After finishing my JD, I hope to work in an institutional setting, such as a nursing home or hospital, to advocate for patients’ needs and ensure that they are receiving appropriate treatment and patient-centered care. I also plan to develop workshops for physicians to understand how to communicate with their patients on a range of topics, from general checkups to advance directives.

Personal Statement about APHA-SA: APHA-SA is exactly what I have been looking for, as a way to keep me connected and active within the public-health field while I take a brief hiatus to complete my JD. My hope in working with other APHA-SA students is to forge new connections with peers and colleagues in the field that I find extremely exciting and fulfilling. One thing that I always heard from my public-health classmates was their desire for more or better mentorship initiatives, so I jumped at the opportunity to help out by co-chairing the Mentoring Committee, to facilitate connections between students and professionals.
