Plans after school: After completing my MPH, I hope to enter a doctorate program in public health, sociology, or other social justice framed program. I am interested in conducting research in underserved populations around the structural factors that contribute to health disparities and social inequities. In particular, I am interested in studying the intersection between social strata, communication, and health.
Personal Statement about APHA-SA: For several years now, I have been a part of APHA in general and have seen all that it has to offer. When I decided to come back to school, I saw how much students could benefit from the Student Assembly. When the call went out for APHA-SA Student Ambassadors, I applied and got a chance to see firsthand the workings of APHA-SA. I’ve always been interested in increasing the diversity of the public health field, so I applied to join leadership when the call went out for board members. I hope to help increase the visibility and impact of APHA-SA. As students we have so much unrealized power and potential to bring about more good and effective change. I encourage everyone to invest in creating the kind of world you want to see!
