I further plan to continue teaching and helping create the next generation of public health research professionals.
Personal Statement about APHA-SA: I began to learn more about APHA during my MPH program. Being new to the public health field, the SA newsletters provided an ideal scope for me to learn more about what APHA was about, the diversity in public health-ranging from nutrition to policies, from community outreach to research, etc. Seeing other fellow students and professionals sharing their experiences drove me to join APHA and subsequently SA. This was one of the best decisions I have made. The membership not only opened a huge network of professionals but also a plethora of learning opportunities that are invaluable. Joining APHA-SA also provided me with leadership opportunities that I may not have had elsewhere. As I began to teach courses myself, I strongly encouraged my students as well to join APHA-SA to further shape their full potential. Being a part of APHA-SA is instrumental to personal leadership and professional growth and I strongly urge all fellow students to consider the opportunities that APHA-SA has to offer.
