Assuring Quality in Public Health Services: Doing More with Less
Session 1004.0 Thursday, June 23 - 3:00PM-5:00PM
Public health, like many other areas of government, has encountered significant reductions in its funding from almost every source. Health departments continue to be asked to downsize their operations, while maintaining performance expectations from the public. Historically, public health departments have worked hard to maintain their programs and services in spite of budget reductions. Today, however, many of these reductions threaten core programs and responsibilities. This session focuses on strategies health departments are using to identify, prioritize and strengthen their core functions during tough economic times. Tools such as performance management; planning and prioritization; accreditation and quality improvement will be discussed.
