The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is recruiting for a senior person to lead its Global Health Financing & Policy Development team. The team is responsible for breakthrough leadership and entrepreneurship in accomplishing the following:
1) Developing international financial mechanisms and other innovations to increase funding for health solutions in the developing world.
2) Creating incentives that stimulate more private sector investment in global health research and development.
3) Developing an evidence base to document what’s working in global health and to help inform and improve regulatory and policy decisions.
4) Coordinating the Foundation’s relationships and investments with international financial mechanisms including the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, the GAVI Alliance, UNITAID, and other multilateral organizations to help increase their efficiency and impact. Exciting MPH degree opportunity for Asia Pacific Rim region posted 9/24/08
The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health has established a Master of Public Health degree for health professionals in the Asia Pacific Rim region. The three-year program will begin with a two-week face-to-face class session in Baltimore, MD, in June 2009.
The bulk of the subsequent course work will be completed on-line. An annual institute where selected face-to-face courses are taught will be held beginning in 2010 in either Singapore or Hong Kong.

GHFP internships for summer 2008

We are pleased to announce that the application process for our Summer 2008 Internship Program is now open. These paid internships are with the US Agency for International Development’s Global Health Bureau in Washington, DC. We are seeking outstanding students and mid-career changers who are interested in pursuing careers in international development. These openings are an excellent opportunity to engage in substantive work with the largest government donor organization in the development field. We are also seeking to attract a diverse, talented group of individuals that will benefit USAID’s Global Health Bureau as it moves into the future.
Currently there are 10 internship opportunities in these Global Health Bureau offices:
Office of Health, Infectious Diseases and Nutrition
- Office of HIV/AIDS
- Office of Population and Reproductive Health
- Office of Professional Development and Management Support
The application deadline is February 15, 2008 and the internships will run for approximately 10 weeks beginning May 27, 2008.
